The first lamp by label raum. A sculptural object made of brightly lacquered drainage pipes that turns the everyday into something unexpected. Born from a material usually kept out of sight, it brings a new, playful presence to a room. Raw, direct and with a wilful lightness, it speaks of how we think about design: rethinking the existing, making contrasts visible and charging function with character. An opening statement with attitude — casting light on what becomes possible when you look at the familiar differently.

The idea for this lamp came from a very everyday moment: on the toilet, looking for light – while drainage pipes lay all around us. That casual situation became a design that reinterprets the ordinary and gives an unassuming material a completely different role.

In production, this spontaneous idea meets precision. The ceiling plate is milled from MDF, cleanly finished and lacquered matte white to give the object a calm, clear base. The pipes themselves are lacquered one by one in bold colours – with a robust, scratch-resistant surface that keeps the playful character for good. Technically, the lamp pairs this raw materiality with contemporary comfort: a controllable Casambi system lets you steer the light from your phone, including dim-to-warm technology, so the light gets not only darker but warmer as you dim it. A spontaneous inspiration becomes a considered object – precisely made, strong in character and flexible in use.

And the best part? It adapts to whatever you have in mind. Only straight pipes? No problem. Rebuild it with angles? Works too. You can extend it with new pipes at any time – or simply buy a second ceiling plate and split the pipes across two. Plain white or boldly colourful: the lamp becomes what you want it to be, without losing its charm or sculptural character.
